Freezing tunnel FGV

Machine description and operation

The product is supplied evenly in a thin layer, across the full width of the first transport belt. The surface of the product is chilled inside the tunnel and frozen using cold air. At the same time the product is kept in motion by the FSS system that knocks against the underside of the belt. On the second belt the product is frozen to the core, in a thick layer. The product gives off heat to the air, which is subsequently cooled down again in an air cooler. The cooler needs to be regularly defrosted as moist air deposits on the cooler fins as frost.

The frost can even stop the air circulating (and therefore the transfer of heat and the freezing performance)! The tunnel consists of several coolers that can be individually disconnected from the freezing process during production. The chiller is then defrosted using hot gas. Defrosting can be done automatically (disconnection and refrigeration valves) or manually.

The type of fan, conveyor and the location of both components within the configuration results in an even distribution of air across the full width of the belt. Good distribution of air promotes uniform freezing of the individual products.

This tunnel meets the current stringent cleaning requirements: an all stainless steel interior (with special attention for sanitary design) with a welded floor, a minimum number of supportlegs on the floor, an easy-to-clean belt. The operation of the freezing tunnel improves if the products enter the tunnel freezer perfectly dewatered and at a low feed temperature. This can be achieved with an extra precooling section.
